Each year County Line Church selects an international ministry partner to receive funds through the Joy to the World Offering. This year’s recipient is Global Disciples. In short, Global Disciples partners with pastors in the areas of discipleship training, leadership development, and small business development. You can learn more about this ministry on their website at globaldisciples.org.

Below is an excerpt taken from the “What’s In Your Hand?” book, published by Global Disciples. In the coming weeks we will share the stories of people who have experienced the “What’s In Your Hand?” training and running a business to support their families and churches.

STRATEGICALLY PLACED… IN MORE THAN ONE WAY

Born to an Orthodox family, Amara grew up among a people group that is 99% Muslim. At 18, he converted to Islam and joined a group that persecuted Christians. One evening they went to a Full Gospel Church looking for people to persecute; there Amara saw Rachel, whom he kidnapped and forced to be his wife.

A year passed, and Amara returned to the Full Gospel Church looking for students to persecute. The minister was given a revelation by God and said, “There’s a man here that is a stumbling block to our Christian sister; you are living with her. You came to persecute Jesus. If you repent and serve Jesus, you will live; if not, you die.”

More words and signs followed, and Amara knew the preacher was speaking to him. He repented and put his faith in Jesus. Rachel, who had converted to Islam, left him. Sometime later, their daughter died, and Rachel became sick. Then God did a miracle in her life: Rachel believed in Jesus and returned to Amara.

Now Amara serves Jesus in the mosques. God has used him in the lives of Muslim leaders and others to bring them to faith in Jesus. When these Muslim-background believers come together for fellowship, they share a meal, read the Bible and give offerings. They decided 15% of the offering will go to missions and 85% to help those persecuted for their faith.

Prior to the training, two businesses had been started to sustain missions and help the persecuted. After a careful survey, the businesses were strategically located: one directly in the center of a Muslim community, the other in a government facility. God has enabled them to be successful. Together the businesses have given more than $20,000 to missions.

Amara is very grateful for practical helps and the “new” way to communicate the vision of ministry through business. “More than any-thing we need your prayer support,” he says.
