On Sunday, January 14th Pastor Stu shared that we will be launching a new satellite campus in Garrett. (You can watch the sermon here.) That Sunday, and the following, many of you expressed interest in being a part of this new church. I wanted to take this opportunity to share what we’ve been doing and how, or when, we plan to move forward.
Currently, we are in the process of hiring the campus pastor for the Garrett location. We are accepting resumes through Thursday, March 15th. (You can read the job description here.) The goal is to hire the campus pastor in early April. We will spend the rest of that month bringing the campus pastor up to speed on the campus launch plan.
Beginning in April and working through May, led by the campus pastor, we will start putting together the Garrett Campus launch team. Many roles and responsibilities will need to launch this campus. We hope that many of you will find your area of interest and utilize your gifts and passions.
In June, the launch team will begin meeting off-site (not at the current campus). These weekly meetings will consist of planning, praying, and preparing to launch the church. It is during these weekly meetings that we expect the launch team to work together in one mind and heart towards a common goal – launching the church.
Throughout July, August, and September the launch team, led by the campus pastor, will host preview services and community events. The purpose of preview services and community events are two-fold. First, we want to make sure that we are “running on all cylinders” when we officially launch the church in October. The preview services will give the launch the opportunity to practice and work out all the kinks.
Second, hosting community events will provide the launch team the opportunity to serve the community, create conversations about a new church, and invite people to the preview services. Our goal is to have more people from the community (who don’t attend church) than the launch team when we begin our first, official, worship service in October.
So what can you do right now? First, we ask for your prayers. Pray that God would lead us to hire the right person as the Campus Pastor. It is critical that we have the right people in the right positions. Also, pray that we can put together a stellar leadership team. We will need a strong, united team surrounding the campus pastor.
Second, watch for more updates coming your way. After we hire the campus pastor, we will be hosting informational meetings. At these meetings, we will begin putting together the launch team and implementing the launch plan.
