Our annual Faith in Action is just around the corner (May 27 & 28th), and I thought I’d take this time to talk about some of the projects we have and why we do this event.
We have over 25 projects this year! I wanted to mention some of the new ones that we have not done before. First of all, we have five projects in Garrett, IN picking up trash as well as talking to people who are out as we do this. We will have the revive bracelets available. This is an intentional way for us to begin engaging Garrett as a church.
We also have a new project at Woodlawn Cemetery. This came about when one of our coordinators drove by and saw the work that needed to be done. We need lots of people for this project to reset headstones, edge around stones, pick up sticks, as well as general landscaping.
Shelter Ministries is somewhere we have served for years now, but they have a new building, and it should be a fun project as we plant pumpkins around their go kart track so that they can have a fall festival!
As we look at the why of Faith in Action, we can see it all through the Bible, but there is no better reason than that which is in Matthew 25:34-40
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’
“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
This is why we serve; this is why County Line believes strongly in our Faith in Action weekend. So help us to go out and serve the community.
